Classroom Information

1st Grade Expectations

Attendance: Personal best attendance is expected each day. This means your child is at school and on time everyday. Each classroom opens beginning at 7:00am. At this time students may enjoy FREE breakfast up until our final bell. The morning bell rings at 7:20am and a final bell at 7:30am. Personal best attendance will be rewarded on a quarterly and monthly basis.

Student ID’s: ID’s are a required part of our uniform. It is mandatory that they be worn at all times. Below you will find a list of prices regarding the student ID’s:

  • $5.00 – Lanyard, Plastic Picture ID

  • $2.00 – Plastic Picture ID

Please refer to the student handbook or contact your child’s teacher if you have any further questions.

Materials: Students are expected to bring their homework folder with their signed PACT Calendar each day.

Newsletter: Families will receive a weekly newsletter of school/class news and events. The newsletter will be attached to each homework packet. Additionally, families will receive a weekly update sent out via e-mail.

Conferences: I welcome parent/ teacher conferences at any time throughout the year. You can schedule a conference before or after school through phone call or email. I prefer not use our morning/afternoon transition times or class time to conference. My attention needs to be 100% on the children from the start of the school day to the end. Our classroom learning time is very precious.

Classroom Supplies: Below you will find a suggested list of supplies needed in first grade. Throughout the year, I will also send a list of items that we are in need of. You are not required to provide any supplies, however, any contribution is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your continued support!

Academic grades consist of assessments (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies) and any assignment that is to determine mastery of our standards. Effort grades include: homework, morning work, and daily lessons.
ParentVue papers with information on how to access your child’s grades will be sent home promptly at the beginning for the school year. If you need additional help with this or another ParentVue log in paper, feel free to contact me and I would be happy to assist you!

Tests/ Assessments: Spelling and Reading Comprehension assessments will be given every Friday. In math, we will have Beginning of Chapter, Mid Chapter, and End of Chapter assessments. These will be given as we reach each section in the curriculum. First graders will be required to take a District mandated Math, Reading, and Reading Fluency Assessment using NWEA and AIMSWeb.
