Welcome to Cheathem Elementary School 2nd grade! I hope that your break have been very exciting! My name is Chekema Littlejohn and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this school year. I have worked in the education field for a very long time from being a substitute teacher, reading and math tutor, STEM coordinator, volunteer, etc. However, this is my first year teaching. I have worked for Laveen School District for three years and have worn many different hats. I am originally from Illinois and very happy to get away from the snow and cold. I completed my Associates of Arts in Education from Highland Community College back home in Illinois. I have lived in Arizona for almost four years now and happy about the environment change but not to excited about the heat. Relocating here to Arizona has helped me to be very focused and assisted me with recently completing my bachelors degree at Capella University. I am very excited to have your students in my class this school year!
Students will have the ability to learn many new things in our class. Students will also have the ability to use technology while learning. We will learn how to be better as a entire class while learning more about reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. As a class we will learn many other things as well.
An open line of communication between home and school is very important as well. I would like to start the year by becoming partners with you in your child’s education. You can help begin this partnership by completing all forms provided to students and returning it with your child. Please never hesitate to call or email with any questions or concerns you may have about your child’s education.
