Teacher Bio

Hello, and welcome to my site! For all you first time visitors, a little about myself: I’ve had the proud privilege to be a music teacher in Laveen School District since 1998, and was the very first band-choir-general music teacher for Vista Del Sur when it opened back in 1998. I began my music teaching in 1992 as a substitute music teacher for the Cartwright School District, then later moved to California to teach at Rio Linda Union School District before coming to Laveen.  I hold a bachelor’s degree in Communications- Theater Arts/Mass Media from Chapman College, a post-baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education from Chapman University, and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Arizona State University. This past year, I completed 200 hours for my yoga teacher certification, to help out our Mind-Body-Spirit program at Laveen School. This will be my 27th year to be a music teacher, and my 23rd and final year as Laveen’s music director– I plan on retiring at the end of this school years in 2021. Until recently, I was a folk music performer doing shows for the Arizona Kidney Foundation, and the Flagstaff Folk Festival for two years in a row. (Mr. Comm–the band teacher– and I did a two-person guitar show for the 2019 Flagstaff Folk Festival.) When I’m not teaching at Laveen,  I’m  hunting bargains on the weekends at the Bookman’s store in Phoenix, and being the guest minister at a local church near where I live.

And of course as always…..Remember to check with me as to what the “official” color of the day is, and make sure you sing a little, dance a little, and make some music every day!!
