Classroom Information

Attendance

It is important that your child is at school on time every day.  Tardiness and taking your child out

early is very disruptive to our learning environment.  Please do your best to limit such disruptions

and schedule appointments outside of school hours. All absences must be reported.  Please notify the attendance office each day your child is absent.

**All absences must be reported to the front office to be noted on student file**

Student IDs

Students will be provided with a student ID the first week of school.  All students are required to have their student IDs at all times.  These badges are very important to school safety and are REQUIRED in order to ride the bus and receive breakfast.

ID Plastic Sleeve:  $1

School-Wide and Classroom Expectations

It is important that students be responsible, show integrity, remain safe, and stay engaged at all times.   Our R.I.S.E motto is used school wide and students are expected to use these skills in each and every classroom.

 R.I.S.E                                      Classroom Voice Levels:

Responsible                          Level 0: Silent

Integrity                                 Level 1: Neighbor talk

Safe                                        Level 2: Group talk

Engaged                               Level 3:  Class Discussion

Take-Home Folder

The take-home folder is our main form of communication with parents.   It must come back and forth to school each day.  It is your child’s responsibility to take care of their folder.   The folder is set up as such:

Left Side:

This side will include work that we completed in class, announcements/notes from the classroom, school and PTA, etc.  Please look at and remove all papers from the left side every night.

Right side:

This side will contain anything that should be returned to school.

Homework

Homework will be given on a daily basis and is good practice of the skills we work on each day.  For this reason, your child will be given a reading log each Monday which they will complete by Friday to turn in.  This will be taken as a grade.  In addition, students may also bring home a daily math assignment that reviews what we learned in class that day.  These assignments should be used as resources to support your child. If your child (or yourself) becomes frustrated at any time while working, please do not hesitate to stop and let me know via email or a note what concept was not understood so I can spend extra time on it with your child.

Homework will include the following:

  • Reading log-one section must be filled out daily
  • Multiplication fact page: A two-minute practice in order to meet the yearly goal
  • Daily math review: A review of our day’s math lesson

***In the event that I send Spanish work to be completed at home, please allow your child to try it and do their best.  I understand that they, or you, might not understand all the words, but I do expect them to try.  Remember, I will never send something home that we haven’t already covered in class.  Also, Google Translate or WordReference.com are great resources to use for translations.
