Consequences / Penalties
For not following class rules.
Depending on the situation, consequences can be skipped and/or repeated. I reserve the right to use my best judgment. |
Attendance
If you are absent from school, you are responsible for obtaining the assignments, notes, instructions, etc. from a responsible classmate. Your absence is your responsibility. You have 1 day for every day you are absent to complete your makeup work. If you are absent when a quiz is given, you will be expected to make up that quiz upon your return. Additionally, you are expected to arrive in class and be in your seat by the time the bell rings. Excessive tardies to class can result in disciplinary action.
Grading
You will receive two grades in this class, an academic grade and an effort grade.
Academic Grade
The academic grade is based on the standards in the course. You will be assessed using those standards and assigned a proficiency level for each standard.
- You are considered Highly Proficient if you score 90% or above on a standardized assessment.
- You are considered Proficient if you score 70% to 89% on a standardized assessment.
- You are considered Partially Proficient if you score 60% to 69% on a standardized assessment.
- You are considered Minimally Proficient if you score less than 60% on a standardized assessment.
Academic grades will be assigned as follows;
- A = Proficient or higher in 100% of standards & Highly Proficient in at least 50% of standards.
- B = Proficient or higher in at least 80% of standards
- C = Proficient or higher in at least 70% of standards.
- D = Partially Proficient or higher in at least 60% of standards.
- F = Partially Proficient or higher in less than 60% of standards.
To improve an academic grade, you may reassess one standard per week, with the new score replacing the original score. The academic grade runs through the entire year and does not reset.
Effort Grade
The effort grade is designed to reflect practice assignments, participation, and work completion. Grades are calculated using the following weights and cutoffs.
Assignment Categories
40% of Effort Grade – Assignments 30% of Effort Grade – Participation 20% of Effort Grade – Notebook 10% of Effort Grade – Benchmark Test |
Grade Cutoffs
Excellent = 80% or higher Satisfactory = 60% – 80% Needs Improvement = 59% or lower |
