Teacher Bio

Hi!  My name is Malissa Iler and I am so excited to be your child’s 2^nd grade teacher.  It is going to be an exciting year of learning.  As the year goes on, I will get to know your child very well but, first I will tell you a little about me.

I was raised in Glendale, Arizona where I attended school in Glendale Elementary School District.  I have two daughters. My oldest daughter graduated from ASU and the youngest daughter is in high school.  My husband, Coach Iler, is also a teacher.  He is a PE coach here at TSP.

This is my 8^th year teaching in Laveen Elementary School District.  However, I taught 13 years in a local school district.  I have taught 8 years in kinder, 4 years in first grade, and 8 years of second grade.  I have a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy from Grand Canyon University.

In the evenings we spend our family time playing sports.  I coach my youngest daughter’s club soccer team.   I also coach the girls’ varsity soccer team at Desert Edge High School.

I am excited to see the growth in your child this year but, please remember that the success of your child is a team effort.  With the support of the family, I know we will meet our academic goals this year.
