Teacher Bio

Welcome to the wonderful world of reading! Here you will learn a little bit about me.

I began my journey teaching children when I was only 16. I started working in after-school and summer programs for the City of Phoenix. I grew a love for children and working with them. I made the choice to study education after graduating high school at Westview. I began by attending Northern Arizona Univeristy the summer after I graduated high school. I came back to Phoenix and started at Glendale Community College. While taking classes at GCC, I worked in the after-school program and at a local middle school as an instructional aid. I was able to learn many way to teach and connect with students through these two places. I then entered a program through Arizona State University to finish my degree in a year and a half. Through this program I spent 2 full days a week co-teaching classes. This gave me great experiences to apply to my future classroom.

After graduating in 2008, I began teaching 7th and 8th grade reading in the Avondale Elementary School District. From there I taught 8th-grade reading and writing at Kings Ridge Preparatory Academy for 3 years. I then moved to Laveen and have been at Desert Meadows for the last 3 years. I have enjoyed my last three years here coaching various sports, running the National Junior Honor Society, and working the Kids Klub in the summer.

Outside of Desert Meadows I enjoy spending time with my husband, 3 year old son, 8 month old son, and 10-year-old stepson.  We spend a lot of time supporting and cheering on my stepson’s basketball team.
