Assignments

Our focus this year in Writing will include practice with the 6 Traits of Writing, with a focus on grammar and editing.

We will be using the 7th grade Edition of the Pearson Literature Textbook. This book may also be found online! Student passwords to log in will be the same as their chrome book log-in except, BEFORE they enter their password, they need a capital “ST” before they enter their password. Students will be composing 6 paragraph essays and learning how to include a counter-argument to their persuasive essay writing skills.

Our focus in Reading: vocabulary! There will be an emphasis on the Tier 2 Common Core vocabulary words this year. We will be using a program called Wordly Wise. Students will receive a packet every Tuesday. There are 5 sections (all approximately 10-15 questions) with a different skill focus in each section. Students will be held accountable for completing one section/day. Packets will be due the following Tuesday. After we review in class, students will be given a Wordly Wise Quiz. This score will be recorded in their Reading grade. Both the review packet and the quiz will be 50 points each.

Aside from Vocabulary, students will be working with the literature in our textbooks as well as novel studies within the class.

Almost 100% of ALL Writing assignments will be assigned AND submitted via Google Classroom! Please frequent this site often to keep track how your child’s writing is progressing. (There is also a time/date stamp on there and you can see exactly when/and if it was submitted on time).
