CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR:

Your responsibilities in this class are to: be on time, be prepared, and be productive. All team members are expected to be polite and respectful to one another—and that includes the teacher. No student will be allowed to disrupt the learning of his or her classmates.

Classroom Grading & Evaluation Policy

  •  Class work: Participation in class activities and class assignments are important to informally assess student learning and understanding. All students are expected to participate in class. Students will receive a participation grade on a daily basis. Participating in note-taking is a part of the class experience. Students are responsible for any work missed during the instructional hour.
  • Projects: Students will be given projects periodically throughout the year. Some of the projects include Common Core tasks. Students will receive information on these projects as the dates arise. Students will be given ample time to complete projects, in some cases extra class time. Students will be graded on a rubric, which will communicate the expectations of the project and assess specific criteria of the assignment.
  • HOMEWORK: There will be minimal homework. Research has shown that it does not increase the likelihood that a student will perform better on assessments. This means that class time will be very important and any distractions caused by students will result in homework being sent home. I intend to use in-class assessments to help my students, but if some students prevent me from completing my teaching, I have no other way to assess their understanding other than to assign homework. Please help make sure that you are ready for class and cause a little disruptions as possible.
  • Quizzes:  Short quizzes will be given frequently to assess if the class is ready for a test or if they have understood the concept being taught.
  • Tests: Tests will be given at the end of each unit. Students will have an in class review the day before the test. Tests should be completed independently. Using notes, talking, or cheating during a test is NOT allowed. If a student is found doing such things, he/she will receive a 0% on the test and cannot make up the test.

Make-up Work: You are expected to make up any work you missed because of an absence. On the day you return, check the appropriate folder for any missed work. Students will have TWO extra day to make up the work for full credit.

Classroom Procedures & Expectations

2). Sharpen your pencil if necessary and sit in your assigned SEAT (not on desk top)

3). Get out materials (pencil, spiral note book).
