FAQ

Will this be a grade?

Yes. Assignments will be graded and posted in the grade book, just as if we were in the classroom. Students are responsible for completing the assignment by the due date.

What if I can’t log in during a live session?

Families have different schedules and a variety of individual needs. Live sessions are intended to provide immediate support to students who have additional questions about the assignment. If you can’t attend a live session, you can still complete the assignments on your own schedule. Instructional videos will be included with assignments. Students are responsible for completing the assignment by the due date.

How much time will the assignments take to complete?

Student work should take approximately 15-20 minutes a week to complete, which is the same amount of independent work time during our regular class time. Depending on the individual skill level some students may finish early or need a little extra time.

When are assignments due?

Assignments are posted each week according to the schedule above. Students will have 7 calendar days to complete the assignment. Example 4th-5th grade assignments will be posted at 9:30a on Monday, that assignment will be due by 11:59p the following Sunday. 2nd-3rd grade assignments will be posted on Thursday at 8:30a, that assignment will be due by 11:59p the following Wednesday.

What if I need help but my teacher is not online right now?

If a student is working on an assignment and has a question, but the teacher is not on live chat, students can ask their questions by commenting on the assignment. The teacher will receive an email and respond as soon as possible during the regular school day 8:30a-3:30p Monday- Friday. Emails received outside of school hours will be returned the following school day.

Does my student need a special code for your Google Classroom?

Google Classroom is a tool I regularly use. Students are invited to join my STEM class as soon as I receive notice of their enrollment at the school. All students should already be part of my Google Classroom. If that is not the case for some reason please email me at tsnow@laveeneld.org with your child’s name and classroom teacher and I will add them to the class and send you a code.
